protector mother
Part of a series of artworks Titled:
The Archetypal Mothers - a Reclamation of the Self.
This series is an exploration of the many layers within motherhood, the sacrifices and the blessings. A testament to divine femininity, identity and the self that is lost and found.
The Protector Mother is a comic-like figure of a stunning lady, dressed as a super hero with a body suit embellished with gold leaf body armour. She stands with her arms out and her palms up, in a defensive stance. She is brave and beautiful. Her facial features are chiseled and finely sculpted, with an expression of intense concentration and determination. Her eyes are deep, full of pain and emotion, she tries not to show to the outside world, so as her opposition can’t see her shake or tremble. The Protector Mother is a striking woman who stands in front of children in danger. She represents the mothers of war. The steadfast mothers of chaos. Her hands are up, shielding the young from the blasts around her. This is painted in a bright and colourful way, but it meant to stir up conversation and reflection, who is she? Where does she live? What is her name? Does she save the innocent lives of women and children?
